PG005 · 01
01状语从句：给主干加”逻辑标签”
状语从句不改变主干，而是说明主干发生的时间、原因、条件、让步、目的、结果。阅读态度题、翻译逻辑都靠它定位。先认连词，逻辑立刻清晰。

关键提醒：状语从句位置灵活——可在句首、句中、句末。句首状语先单独译（”虽然……，但是……”），再译主干，中文就顺了。

例1 · 英一 2016 翻译(49) 让步 although + 原因 as
Although mental health is the cure-all for living our lives, it is perfectly ordinary as you will see that it has been there to direct you through all your difficult decisions.
Although… 让步（尽管它是万灵药）；as… 原因/方式（正如你将看到的）。主干 it is ordinary。
例2 · 英一 2017 翻译(46) 时间 even as
But even as the number of English speakers expands further there are signs that the global predominance of the language may fade within the foreseeable future.
even as… 时间（正当说英语的人继续增多时）；主句 there are signs；that… 是 signs 的同位语从句。
例3 · 英一 2024 翻译(47) 让步 Although
Although the cues used by African elephants for long-distance navigation are not yet understood, smell may well play a part.
Although… 让步（尽管尚未弄清）；绿色 used by… 是 cues 的后置定语。主干 smell may play a part。
例4 · 英一 2019 翻译(49) 条件 if（虚拟）
This would be reasonable if it were not for the fact that scientists can easily arrange to cite themselves in their future publications, or get associates to do so for them in return for similar favours.
if it were not for… 虚拟条件（要不是……）；that… 是 fact 的同位语。”要不是科学家能自引，这本是合理的。”

例5 · 英一 2017 翻译(47) 结果 so…that
His analysis should therefore end any self-contentedness among those who may believe that the global position of English is so stable that the young generations of the United Kingdom do not need additional language capabilities.
so stable that… 结果状语（如此稳固，以至于英国年轻人不需要再学外语）。外层嵌套 who/that 从句。
例6 · 英一 2021 翻译(49) 时间 when
and when the new staff are predominantly young men and women fresh from postgraduate study, they largely define the norms of academic life in that faculty.
when… 时间（当新教师主要是刚毕业的研究生时）；主干 they define the norms。
例7 · 英一 2013 翻译(49) 时间 until + 方式 as if
most of us give in to a demoralization of spirit which we usually blame on some psychological conditions, until one day we find ourselves in a garden and feel the oppression vanish as if by magic.
until… 时间（直到有一天……）；as if by magic 方式状语（仿佛施了魔法）。
例8 · 英一 2023 翻译(49) 条件 unless
Therefore, unless customers are prepared to sign release agreements, the use of AI may become somewhat restricted in the future.
unless… = if not（除非顾客愿意签署授权协议）。unless 常考，译时记得补出”否则”。
